While you may be using batteries every day in many different parts of your life, most people don't think about their batteries until it comes time to replace them. If you find yourself replacing your batteries often, it's a good sign that they may in fact be the wrong kind for your application. This guide will provide you the steps to follow for you to feel confident the batteries you purchase are in fact the right batteries!
There are five main factors that contribute to selecting the right battery. Some of these factors are required to match the battery you are replacing exactly, while other factors can have a slight variance.
Voltage - The voltage of the battery you are replacing, must be the same as the new battery you are purchasing. Your device will not operate with a battery that does not have the required voltage.
Amp Hours - The Amp Hour rating of your battery can be slightly more, or slightly less. The higher amp hour a battery has, the longer runtime. While using a lower Amp Hour battery will result in a shorter run time. A higher runtime does not mean a device will have more power and go faster.
Size - The dimensions of your battery is important because the device that you are powering has a specific case or area that the battery fits into. If the new battery you purchase is too large it wont fit into the space. However most manufacturers allow for a small variance from the original battery size.
